I was talking to a couple of friends over the weekend and we recalled getting spanked at home and in school with a slipper. Did you get spanked with a slipper growing up. Was it a carpet slipper or plimsoll? Did you have to bend over the knee or just bend over, was it received on a clothed or bare backside? Who administered the slipper across your backside?
For me and my friends at home it was over our Dad’s knee with his carpet slipper, only one of us got it over his bare backside once. At school it was the plimsoll whilst touching our toes.
I was slippered at school by the PE teacher wearing just thin PE shorts. It really hurt and left a raised welt on my backside which changed into a bruise.
I went to a private school and the headmaster gave the slipper. My experience was in 1994 my last year of primary school, I was given lines for talking in class and I forgot to do them. I was sent to the headmaster and he gave me 6 whacks.
My schooldays were early 1950s into the mid 1960s, mixed primary school then a boys grammar school. In the first part of my primary school some lady teachers tended to slap the backs of legs of both boys and girls. It was done in the classroom and it often left red handprints. Back then it was just the accepted way of punishing younger school children. I don’t remember any being put over the knee in school. At home many parents did give over the knee spankings. I was spanked in that way by my mother, sometimes a few quick slaps over my trousers and if I really misbehaved my short trousers and underpants were pulled down before being put across my mother’s knee.
My Dad’s were more painful, mainly as he would give a lot more smacks and used his slipper especially towards the back end of primary school. It was more embarrassing at school to be called out or led by the ear to the front of the class to be spanked
